Abstract

Gravga Bridge, which is a part of the historical road system crossing the Taurus Mountains between the port settlements on the Mediterranean coast and the inner centers in the north in the mountainous region within the borders of Mersin’s Mut district, is on the Göksu River. In line with architectural findings and historical information, it is thought that its first construction dates back to the Roman Period, that it was rebuilt during the Karamanoğulları rule, and that it took its final shape by undergoing repairs - some of them comprehensive - during the following centuries. The Gravga Bridge, which has a main arch and slopes steeply in two directions, has a broken plan today. 5 for waterproofing, 4 for lightening duty; It has 9 spans in total. Circular spans in the facade composition, general facade composition, rain gutter arrangement in the middle axis of the deck, confusion in masonry, some features and problems related to building elements and plan that need to be discussed; It is a building that offers remarkable findings in terms of art and architectural history. In the article, restitution suggestions are presented in line with the analysis and evaluations of situations and findings that have not been identified and discussed on this scale before, and these are supported by drawings. In the restitution, a different aperture pattern and number from the current situation is proposed for the eye composition. Again, arrangements regarding the deck and parapets, arches, and the cone on the south side of the building are suggested. These are based on concrete findings other than the general convention regarding bridge architecture, such as a circular span traces on the façade, which was later closed, and the graffiti repertoire on the piers.
